We repair garden fences across London. Most jobs are a leaning or blown-down panel, a rotted post at ground level or a gate that has dropped. Repairs start at £120, a replacement panel is £90 to £160 fitted and a new post set in postcrete is £110 to £190. We come out, look at it, and tell you honestly whether it needs repairing or replacing.

Almost every fence we are called to has failed in the same place. Not the panel, the post. Timber rots where it meets the soil, the post loses its grip, and the next bit of wind takes the panel with it. The panel usually survives. That matters, because replacing three posts and refixing the panels costs a fraction of a new fence.

That is the first thing we check when we arrive. If the posts are sound we repair. If they are gone we say so and price the replacement properly. Either way you get the price in writing before anyone picks up a spade.

What we repair

Leaning and blown-over panels
Refixed to sound posts, or new posts set in postcrete where the old ones have gone.
Snapped and rotted posts
The commonest failure in London gardens. Replaced without dismantling the whole run.
Storm damage
Make-safe first so the garden is secure, then a proper repair once we can get the materials.
Dropped gates
New hinges, packed and rehung so it closes on the latch instead of dragging on the path.
Rotten gravel boards
Swapped for concrete boards, which keeps the panel timber out of the wet ground.
Damaged trellis and toppers
Refixed or replaced, matched to the existing panel where we can.

How a fence repair works

1
Free site visit
We come out, walk the run and check every post by hand. Takes about twenty minutes.
2
Honest diagnosis
We tell you what has actually failed. If three posts and two panels will do it, we will not quote you a whole new fence.
3
Fixed written price
Itemised: panels, posts, gravel boards, fixings, waste. Nothing gets added afterwards.
4
We do the work
Posts set in postcrete, panels levelled along the run, everything cleared and the garden swept.

A word on boundaries, because it causes more arguments than anything else in this trade. You are normally responsible for the fence on one side of your garden, but the deeds are the only thing that settles it. If the fence sits on a shared boundary we recommend a quick word with the neighbour before we start. It costs nothing and it stops the job halting halfway through.

We also work for landlords and managing agents across London, and we can invoice on account. If you look after several properties, one call gets all of them looked at on the same visit.

Why people call us for fence repairs

  • We check the posts first. You get an honest diagnosis, not an automatic quote for a whole new fence.
  • Fixed prices. Panels, posts, gravel boards and waste removal itemised up front, agreed before we start.
  • Waste taken away. Old panels, rotten posts and lumps of concrete go with us. Included in the price.
  • Insured and vetted. Every handyman carries public liability cover and turns up in a marked van.

Fence repair questions

How much does it cost to repair a fence in London?
A panel refix is £120 to £180, a replacement panel £90 to £160 fitted and a new concrete-set post £110 to £190. A full run of up to six bays repaired and re-levelled runs £450 to £900. You get the price in writing after a free site visit.
Can you repair my fence or does it need replacing?
Most of the time it can be repaired. The panel usually survives, it is the post that rots at ground level. We check every post before we quote and we will tell you plainly if a repair is not worth doing.
How fast can you come out?
Same-week for standard repairs. If the garden is not secure because a fence has come down, tell us on the phone and we will get someone out same day to make it safe.
Do you take the old fence away?
Yes. Removal and disposal of old panels, rotten posts and broken concrete is included in the price.
Do I need to be home?
Not if we can get to the garden. Plenty of our repairs are done with the customer at work. We send photos when it is finished.
Who owns the fence, me or my neighbour?
Only the deeds settle it. As a rough guide people are responsible for one side of their garden, but it is not a rule. If the fence is on a shared boundary, have a word with the neighbour first.
Do you fit concrete posts?
Yes, and on exposed gardens we usually recommend them. Concrete posts and gravel boards keep the timber out of wet ground and roughly double the life of the fence.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes. Labour is guaranteed for twelve months and we are fully insured.
Fence down or leaning?
Send us a photo and we will tell you what it needs and what it costs. Free site visit, fixed written price, waste taken away.
